Announced back in March and expected to be available soon, we managed to get our hands on a brand new O2 Xda nova - O2 Germany's latest Windows Mobile 6 Professional smartphone.
The O2 Xda nova is based on the HTC Elf reference design and therefore sports,
like the recently announced HTC Touch, HTC's latest TouchFLO technology (see our video preview here:
VIDEOVIEW: HTC TouchFLO Touch Screen Experiencev) which allows you to use your thumbs for a more efficient, natural and intuitive touch screen navigation. Moreover, even is O2 Germany uses a slighly different industrial design, this is the smallest Windows Mobile Professional smartphone on the market today - it's even smaller than some Windows Mobile Standard smartphones!
The O2 Xda nova is powered by Microsoft's latest Windows Mobile 6
Professional operating system (previously known as Windows Mobile Pocket PC
Phone Edition) and sports a TI OMAP 850 CPU at 200 MHz. The Xda
nova features triband (900/1800/1900 MHz) GSM/GPRS/EDGE, WiFi b/g and Bluetooth
2.0 including the A2DP stereo profile. For photo, video and MMS, the device
sports a 2.0
megapixel camera and photos and videos can be stored on the inbuilt 64 MB RAM/128 MB ROM
which can be extended using micros SD cards.
According to O2 Germany, the Xda nova measures 100mm x 58mm x 14mm and weights, with the 1100 Li-Ion
battery, 120g only. The
2.8'' TouchFLO-enabled QVGA screen supports the Windows Mobile typical 65,536 colors. The Xda nova will be
available in high gloss black (similar to the O2 Xda Atom).
While I'm still waiting to get my hands on a final device, I've recently had the
chance to make some detailed photos of O2 Germany's latest Xda smartphone.
More to come soon - stay tuned.
Cheers ~ Arne
