The Toshiba Portégé G500 is Toshiba's first Windows Mobile Smartphone sporting Windows Mobile 5.0 for Smartphone only (unfortunately) and features a slider design. The device features triband GSM/GPRS/EDGE (no GSM 850 MHz support) and singleband UMTS/HSDPA (2100 MHz only) as well as WiFi b/g and Bluetooth 1.2. In addition it features two cameras - the main camera on the back which supports 2 megapixel and a front facing QVGA camera on the front which is used for UMTS video-telephony. The Portégé G500 provides a unique and enhanced level of security through fingerprint recognition. The fingerprint sensor can also be used to navigate the phone's menu and to lock the device. First of all, let us start with the traditional photo view of the device:

I will follow-up with the review of the device later. In the meantime feel free to ask your questions in the comments bellow as well as don't miss my unboxing video of the Toshiba Portégé G500 here.

Cheers ~ Arne

As always great shots Arne, gives a good impression of the device. But indeed it seems to be a little bit bulky? :-(
Have you heard anything about a Windows Mobile 6 Standard upgrade? Without it's not an option for me. I'm currently looking for a UMTS Smartphone but if I'm going to buy one, it should have WM6. Therefore also the Mteor isn't an option for me. :-(
I think the Kaiser is the most interesting one at the moment. Or the Toshiba G900. Any experiences with this Pocket PC?

Patrick, unfortunately I haven't heard anything about a possible Windows Mobile 6 upgrade for the G500. Such an upgrade would be worth, since the device itself features all the latest (Windows Mobile) specs but I have no idea if Toshiba will release it or not. sad
Regarding the G900, stay tuned! wink
