Last week, Symantec pre-announced the launch of its Norton Mobile Security suite for Windows Mobile Smartphones, now Network World reports that the security specialist is postponing it to end of the year. Maybe Symantec was quite irritated about the reactions in the blogsphere (haven't seen a single positive posting) but a Symantec spokesman said Tuesday in an E-Mail: "After some review, we've decided to integrate this product into the cycle of our 2008 Norton product line launching in the fall timeframe". Nevertheless, the corresponding enterprise product, called Symantec Mobile Security Suite 5.0, is still planned to be released in June, Symantec said.

And now the good news! ;-) If you can only hardly await it to get Norton Mobile Security for Smartphone installed on your device, Symantec plans a public beta of the software which will be available on Symantec's Web site "in the coming days", as the spokesman said. So who is going to give it a try?

Cheers ~ Arne
