I don't wanted to leave the office without letting you know, that tomorrow morning (right before I will drive home) I will receive the next PPCW.Net i-Mate Phone Edition batch! I got the news this morning from my forwarder: The PPCW.Net i-Mate Phone Edition arrived in Munich today - in fact it's a batch with 115 kilograms of Pocket PC Phone Edition! 8O

This is mostly enough - I'm sure - to serve most of you since I've tippled the order to get as much devices in stock as possible (please keep in mind that even HTC ran sold out in December because of the high demand for the HTC Himalaya Pocket PC Phone Edition!).

Unfortunately, the devices reached me pretty late - already a week later then estimated :-( and because of the Christmas holidays, new year and the fact that I'm closing the office during Christmas until 2004; I won't be able to send out the devices in 2003 anymore nor I can accept orders before January 2004.

However, right away in the new year I will make them available to you via the PPCW.Net Shop and I just want to let you know today, that you can expect it early 2004! :-D

Cheers ~ Arne

Why not accepting orders from today and shipping it on Jan 5?

What kind of service do you provice for the i-Mate phone edition?  I bought one from Expansys and two weeks later the screen craked.  This wasn't due to a drop or any misuse... the PPC is not as firmly built as the XDA I and therefore the glass literally is under pressure as the unit somewhat bends!  I feared this would cause stress on the glass, and indeed it did and the glass has shattered so I need to buy a new one.  I basically have to throw this one away as HTC has no presence in the US to fix the device.  Do you offer a better customer servicve program on the device than Expansys?

Sam, pretty big call to ask if Arne as an individual and enthusiast can provide a better service that EXPANSYS. I'm pretty sure that whenever you need "information" around this device you find in a valuable source. And I'm also comvinced that Arne treats his customers fair and honest. But service would also be "local presence", "pick-up service", "24 hour replacement" and so forth... how should this be possible for an individual?

Sam, your question is very valid indeed! I am also interested what, apart from better e-mail/forum support, is PPCW.Net offering to potential buyers...?

On the other hand it is difficult to prove that the screen was not cracked by you but by itself. See here:

... for a picture of old XDA - it also is susceptible to screen cracks...

Is the ROM on the I-mate sold by this site in English or Germany?

Posted by Arne Hess on 28.12.03 - 20:38:43
