Following yesterday's news on Twitter that Jolla is preparing shipments of the pre-booking campaign of the company's first Sailfish OS smartphone from wave 1 and wave 2, users are now receiving the expected E-Mail which details the process. According to this E-Mail, also the::unwired received, Jolla is "pleased to inform all its Jolla pre-booking customers that they will soon receive instructions on how to complete their order via Jolla's webshop" and continues that upon completing the order, customers will receive more information about shipping and delivery. As a matter of fact, starting from November 22, invitations will be sent "to enter the webshop where the purchase can be completed".
Invitations will be sent according to priority order to all pre-booking customers from the EU, Norway and Switzerland; sorry users in North America and Asia but Europeans will get the Sailfish OS - from the last and latest European handset manufacturer - first. In order to secure the priority delivery during December, customers are asked to completed the purchase by December 2. While the pre-booking is still valid until 30 June, 2014, delivery times after this date cannot be guaranteed or will vary.
Interesting enough, Jolla said in its E-Mail that "no separate priority number will be sent, seeing as the order ID (order number) determines the priority of the order". A quick check of my order ID unveiled that it is: 989bb[XXXX]fd which basically tells me nothing. This is also different to the initial announcement Jolla made and even printed on the receipt: "We will notify you of your actual priority number at the end of the pre-order period."
Well, let's see how this will work and the next E-Mail should come anytime soon - ahead of December 2.
UPDATE: The Jolla Service and Support site offers some more details what users can customers can expect. According to this, Jolla expects an estimated delivery time of 3 - 4 weeks from completing the purchase. Furthermore Jolla unveiled on this page which smart cover colors (The Other Half) are available at launch - which is just one: White. However, Jolla says that more covers will become available in due course and that 100 Euro pre-booking customers from the May 2013 campaign are also entitled to an exclusive "The Other Half" Poppy Red smart cover; which is most likely delivered on a later point.
