The best selling world time software for Palm and Pocket PC devices is currently ported to the Microsoft Smartphone platform! CityTime is an advanced world time system with more or less the same features as you already knows it from your Pocket PC. Thanks to Code City, I got a Beta version today to be previewed here.
The fast and accurate day/night plot shows where it is day and night across the world in real time. Time anywhere in the world can be estimated by referring to the day/night plot. Two to four world clocks on the screen give precise information and show the day and time of the week in remote cities.
Other features include in the Smartphone version:
- Sunrise and sunset times and moonrise, moonset times
- Airport codes and dialing codes listing for all cities
- Powerful time calculator
- Internet time synchronization
CityTime is a handy application for every traveler or everybody who has to take care of international contacts and therefore time zones. Specially if I'm traveling to America or East Asia, I never know in which time zone I'm so this really helps me to orientate myself without changing the Smartphone built-in time zone which is shaking my appointments. ;-) For good reason CityTime is a bestseller on Palm and Pocket PC devices.
Currently, as I said before CityTime for Smartphone is in Beta but should be released soon. The good news is, as Code City told me, that it will be available as a signed version too! :-)
What I miss in this Beta - don't know if Code City might think about it for the final version is a kind of Home screen plug-in like it is available for the Pocket PC Today screen (see here). One of the advantages of the Microsoft Smartphone platform is that you are able to add this kind of useful stuff to your Home screen, so this might be convenient too!
Overall, I really like to see, that we also get the finest Pocket PC applications ported to the Smartphone platform now and while I'm not that game geek, I hope to see more of this handy utilities soon! Stay tuned for the review of the final version!
Cheers ~ Arne
