PRODUCTIVITY: Sony Ericsson offers free Office Viewer for Xperia X10 mini and mini pro Users

While the Android OS is pretty complete for a mobile OS, it still lacks native support for Microsoft Office documents, as Microsoft's Windows Phone has and handset manufactures either adds Office viewers to their Android smartphones or leave it to the customer to buy Office applications from the Android Market. However, as pointed out in the Sony Ericsson Product Blog, paid applications are yet not supported by all Android Markets around the world; for instance paid apps are yet not available in Sweden where Sony Ericsson is located. Therefore, and for the favor of all Xperia X10 mini and X10 mini pro users around the world, Sony Ericsson has added a free version of MobiSystem OfficeSuite Viewer to the company's own PlayNow online shop.

The app is the same that is included in the Xperia X10 and in short it's an Office document viewer that handles the following Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF formats: DOC, DOCX, TXT, XLS, XLSX, CSV, PPT, PPTX, PPS, PPSX and PDF which should cover most needs out there. Normally, OfficeSuite Viewer costs 4.99 Euro but Xperia X10 mini and X10 mini pro users can download it free of charge from PlayNow, where it is located under the productivity category.
