PROTECTION: O2 Germany adds Spam and Virus filters for its E-Mail service

Do you remember one of my latest thoughts "Is Spam the carriers "best friend"?" where I was ranting about the spam E-Mails I'm receiving on my mobile phone - from the carriers E-Mail service I use in addition to my other E-Mail accounts?
Finally O2 Germany is monitoring its E-Mail service better (I don't think it's because of my previous posting but who knows) and from now they offer a spam and virus protection for free with every O2 E-Mail account.

O2 Germany is cooperating with Kaspersky Labs whose virus filters recognize around 70.000 virus definitions yet and infected E-Mails are deleted immediately. E-Mails, recognized as Spam are moved into a separate Spam folder and being deleted after 30 days automatically.

O2 customers needs to activate the Spam and virus protection, it's not enabled by default but good to see O2 reacts on increased Spam and virus attacks. Might be time to switch on the SMS notification again which I had to switch off because 80 % of my E-Mails were Spam.

How does your carrier protects you?

Cheers ~ Arne
