RAFFLE: Win a copy of Doug Berrett 's WebGuide 4 for Windows Media Center Edition and Vista

Okay, I'm not raffling software too often and if I do, I want to make sure it's a) something useful and b) of high quality! Doug Berrett's WebGuide 4 for Microsoft's Windows XP or Vista Media Center Edition is both - useful and of high quality and Doug was kind enough to donate three copies for the::unwired readers I'm going to raffle today.

Why is WebGuide4 so useful? Well, pretty easy - it integrates into the Microsoft Windows XP/Vista Media Center Edition and gives you, from virtually every web browser, access to your Media Center including the EPG (electronic program guide). While accessing is nice you can even schedule a recording, remotely and I've just used it a bit during the past weeks since I was heavily traveling. Having a Media Center PC at home is great, you can record and playback your stuff later but if you are not at home to schedule your recordings it's just useless. With WebGuide 4 and my Windows Mobile Pocket PCs and Smartphones I can access my EPG anytime from everywhere to schedule a recording, doesn't matter where I'm.

So far so good and the EPG access works fine, even with the free WebGuide 4 version. However, with the upgrade from v3 to v4, WebGuide also supports the remote access to your music, photos and videos which you can remotely stream now. To use the new and enhanced features, you need the full version of WebGuide 4 which I'm raffling three copies of today - worth of US$ 15!

What you need to join the raffle? Not too much but I have a couple of minimum requirements:

  • You have to be a registered the::unwired Forum member (but you can register here anyway if you aren't a registered user yet).
  • You need to have a Windows XP Media Center Edition or Windows Vista with Media Center Version running (otherwise WebGuide 4 doesn't makes sense - I reserve the right to ask for a proof).

Enhancements to make WebGuide 4 an even better experience:

  • Windows Mobile Pocket PC or Smartphone - what else! ;-)
  • In best case your Media Center Edition is running 24/7 (otherwise WebGuide 4 can not be used remotely).

Terms & Conditions:

  • To apply to the raffle just leave a comment to this posting but please make sure you are logged into your account (see bullet point number one above) and let us know why you think you are the right one to win/how you will use the WebGuide 4.
  • Next Saturday the September 11 the 3 winners will be drawn.

Good luck everybody and thanks to Doug for the donation!

Cheers ~ Arne

Arne that looks like a great app.  I have a Media Center PC at home and a Cingular 2125 on the road.  And since I am on the road 5-6 days a week this would be great.  It would save me a ton of hassle calling or emailing my wife to record something for me.  The worst of which is when I can't get ahold of her, and I realize there's an episode of something I want to watch coming on in an hour or so.

If the streaming works as well as it says I could even catch up on my recorded shows while I'm on the road and not have to spend my weekend tied to my computer in the blue haze of the WMC

I love this software and I have been using it since it was launched.  I don't have the full version but I would love to wind a copy.
