RAM UPGRADE: Increase the 32 MB RAM of your xda/MDA to 64 or even 128 MB RAM now

How Dale reports on Pocket PC Passion, PocketPCTechs.COM has the long awaiting upgrades in the portfolio now:

O2 XDA / T-Mobile PPC Phone 64MB Internal RAM Upgrade - $129.00
O2 XDA / T-Mobile PPC Phone 128MB Internal RAM Upgrade - $299.00

The internal 32 MB RAM are definitely not enough today so this upgrade is pretty necessary. I think I will send my Wallaby next week to them for he upgrade. However right now I'm not sure which upgrade I will take cause I already have 128 MB SD card in order to be used with my Wallaby.

Cheers ~ Arne

I have a 128MB SD card in use with my XDA already, so I think I won't void my warranty.

I love the fact you can upgrade the ram.  However, I was wanting a PPC that had the X-scale processor.  Any idea whether a new XDA/T-mobile might be coming out soon, or if another pocket pc phone edition that has the x-scale processor is available (it must be usable as a regular cellphone).  The LOOX was my first choice, but it is not coming to the states in full force, so that makes me feel that the GPRS add-on for the U.S., will never see the light of day.

Silicon,

It is unfortunate that this invalidates the warranty. However, SD upgrades do not offer the same improvement, as they are not handled by the memory manager (they are not fast enough for it).

This upgrade upgrades the RAM, so applications can use it, and it doesn't matter if your contacts/appointments/task DBs get big (you'll notice that these cannot be put onto the SD card!!). Even ring tones have to be stored in RAM - they cannot be saved on SD (the windowsring folder is in RAM).

No matter how much SD you put in, I think that 32Mb RAM is still very short. Hence the reason O2 are releasing a 64Mb version - already released in Asia.

Can you upgrade the memory for Motorola MPx?
