If you follow the Smartphone developments, you know for sure the Samsung SGH-i300 Windows Mobile Smartphone which was released late last year, first time show-cased at last year's CeBIT and which was one of the launch (event only) devices of the Windows Mobile 5.0 launch.
Nevertheless, it came with a - today - fairly small hard disk and Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition. Still, the i300 is a superior phone (which I had to return, unfortunately, I'm really missing it) but for sure, in this setup it can not compete with more state of the art Smartphones, like the latest HTC devices which even supports W-LAN, anymore.
Therefore, it looks, Samsung decided to re-release the i300 as I300X and adds another one Gigabyte which gives the phone a 4 Gigabyte hard disk now. The other features are looking unchanged yet and the product page isn't mentioning the operating system (Windows Mobile 2003SE vs. Windows Mobile 5.0) but keep the fingers crossed that Samsung will release the X-version with 5.0 instead of 2003SE.
There was no release date given yet nor any further information about planned availabilities but since it still lacks quad-band GSM support (still features GSM 900, 1800 and 1900 only) I still not expect a launch in North America.
