Dopod International continues to reinforce its leading position in the Asian PDA phone and smart phone market by announcing its latest product model, the Dopod 818pro (better known as HTC Prophet) with 5 colors for lifestyle consumers choices.
Available first in Singapore, the Dopod 818pro is the follow-on to the world's most successful PDA phone Dopod 818 and its alike (such as O2 mini in Asia) and being all ODMed by High Tech Computer (HTC), Dopod brings its latest product with unparalleled price performance and the only one in the world to come in 5 different colors – silver, matt black, lavender, pink and blue.
It also comes with WiFi 802.11b/g, Bluetooth A2DP, GPRS, Quad band GSM, EDGE and a 2-Megapixel camera with macro photo taking function. The industry prevalent MMC/SDIO slot, expanded memory size also brings extra cost benefits to consumers.

Inherited with excellent form factor and design of the world's best sale Windows
based PDA phone Dopod818 (HTC Magician) and alike, Dopod 818Pro is designed
simply to appeal to the no-fuss crowd, the new Dopod 818pro is a light, small
and futuristic device which comes in life style design with incredibly enhanced
features. This GSM Quad-band PDA phone enables users to communicate by voice
anyplace around the world.
The Dopod 818pro, which has a sleek, trendy metallic finish, packs a host of comprehensive connectivity options. These
include WiFi 802.11b/g, Bluetooth 2.0, Infrared, GPRS (on top of basic features
like SMS and MMS), making it an unparalleled choice for not only general
consumers but also mobile business professionals who require real-time
information and data. Powered by the advanced Microsoft Windows Mobile Version
5.0, the Dopod 818pro comes with a full suite of applications for viewing and
editing files, like Pocket Word, Excel, Power Point, managing address book and
e-mails like Pocket Outlook while allowing users full access to the Internet.
Unfortunately, also the Dopod 818pro (like its forerunner, the T-Mobile MDA
compact II aka HTC Charmer) is sporting a TI OMAP 850 CPU only.
The prevalently accepted 2.8 inch sized, 65,536-colour TFT display touch-screen
(still QVGA, not VGA) has offered a superior and larger display that packs more
pixels in its class. Moreover, the 2-megapixel built-in camera with macro will
ensure that consumers will have their share of play on the road, since it's
built to handle and capture both still images and video. The Dopod 818pro also
supports MP3 playback and WAV files, which means you can pack your favorite
music on-the-go.
The Dopod 818pro appears already on Expansys Hong Kong (and
Singapore) for HK $4,980 (around 550 Euro, 645 US$) but isn't available yet.
Worldwide availability should be early next year with several launches from
operators as well.
Cheers ~ Arne
