On Monday I was writing about the i-mate JAM (HTC Magician) limited edition launch in Australia and I wasn't sure if it will be released worldwide too. However, as Carrier Devices/i-mate confirmed today, the limited edition will be released world wide also.

i-mate, the specialists in Microsoft Windows Mobile devices and supportive applications, are pleased to introduce their new limited edition i-mate JAM. Following on from the world wide success of the original, this limited edition device comes with all the advanced Windows Mobile features of the i-mate JAM, plus twice as much built in memory at 128MB RAM, Computer Associates eTrust Antivirus software, Skype internet telephony software, global warranty and exclusive access to the club i-mate web portal. The new i-mate JAM retains the same striking minimalistic design and compact dimensions of the original but comes in a distinguished charcoal color. The original i-mate JAM will continue to be available for those who want the award winning standard feature set in a sleek silver color.

Speaking on Monday in Dubai about his high expectations of the new charcoal colored i-mate JAM, Founder and Chief Executive of i-mate, Mr. Jim Morrison said, "I've no doubt this beefed up new i-mate JAM will continue the phenomenal success of the original. It really is the perfect combination of beauty & brains. This superb product will be the mark of distinction of the discerning mobile phone buyer."

Designed to deliver the ability to keep in touch & be entertained on the move without the need for multiple devices, this impressive Microsoft Windows Mobile powered mobile delivers 10 devices in the 1 compact unit, including a PC, 1.3 megapixel camera/video, gaming console, and an MP3 player just to name a few. You can access much of the same information on your desktop PC such as emails, the internet & important documents whilst on the go. It has a sharp 64k touch sensitive screen, MMS & Bluetooth support, Wi-Fi capability via an SD Wi-Fi card, as well complete memory expansion via the SD card slot and a full range of applications including Pocket Outlook, Windows Media Player, Internet Explorer, MSN Messenger, Pocket Word & Pocket Excel. The matte charcoal body of the new i-mate JAM sports the metallic sheen and cool touch of anodized aluminum.

Thanks to its pioneering partnerships with world leading value added service providers, i-mate offers an impressive array of applications as standard on the new i-mate JAM, including CA eTrust Antivirus software to help deliver peace of mind, and Skype (VoIP) to make reduced call costs a reality. These same applications will be available for purchase separately by all i-mate device owners at club i-mate.

"Today's astute mobile phone buyer demands more than just a phone. Our superior range of devices combined with our advanced software and extensive global support delivers unbeatable value," added Mr. Morrison.

The elite web portal exclusively for i-mate owners, www.clubimate.com, provides 24/7 technical advice, support and value added services such as free hosted Microsoft Exchange e-mail, exclusive i-mate interactive games and upgrade patches for download. Every i-mate device comes fully backed by a global warranty. A limited quantity of the new charcoal i-mate JAM will be available online or in stores, from mid August 2005.

Cheers ~ Arne

if you don't want to wait until it is available and you live in germany, you can get the same from o2 germany (except the 128 mb but 64 mb only!).
but o2 lowered the price now and i picked it up from my local o2 shop yesterday for 99 € only smile with o2 active 100!

i love the color! looks way better than my mda compact which is going to ebay now!

now i'm going to order a wi-fi sd card, any recommendations? should i buy the socket or the spectec?

You could also check out the QTek S110 - it DOES have 128MB and the same dark colour body. It is already avalable in the UK from www.mobilefun.co.uk.
