In addition to today's VPA IV announcement, Vodafone Germany also announced to introduce the VPA compact on CeBIT mid next month. According to Vodafone Germany's press release, the VPA compact is basically the same device as previously introduces by T-Mobile as MDA IV and O2 Asia as Xda II mini or i-mate as JAM.

Since it is also based on HTC's Magician platform, it will features:

  • Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition for Pocket PC
  • Tri-band GSM/GPRS
  • 416 MHz Intel Bulverde CPU
  • 1.3 Megapixel camera
  • 64 MB RAM
  • SDIO/MMC card slot
  • Bluetooth
  • Mini-USB
  • Size: 108 x 58 x 18 millimeters
  • 180 hours standby-time/5 hours talk-time

As with the VPA IV, Vodafone haven't announced any plans to release the VPA compact outside Germany nor was a price given. Launch can be expected to be soon after the CeBIT.

UPDATE: I've received information that Vodafone will introduce the "male" ID (like previously shown by Orange), not the "female" and rounder (iPod-like) ID as used by T-Mobile, O2 Asia or i-mate. Nevertheless, the version Vodafone plans to introduce is lighter and more silver, not that dark and anthracite as Orange plans to introduce.

Cheers ~ Arne
