Music and radio lovers know for sure TuneIn Radio, but there's an alternative which was so far not available for Windows Phone 8 but only the previous Windows Phone versions - iHeartRadio. iHeartRadio offers free music in an all-in-one, free internet radio service that lets you stream your favorite live radio stations. And now, after many requests, it's finally available for Windows Phone 8 as well. With the new Windows Phone radio app, users can also create commercial-free Custom Stations featuring songs from the artist you select and similar music. iHeartRadio allows to listen to more than 1,500 live radio stations from coast-to-coast including pop, country, hip-hop rock, talk, news, sports, and more.

However, this is the biggest problem of the service. Unlike TuneIn Radio, which is truly international, iHeartRadio is pretty much US-focused and centric. Nevertheless, if you are in the US, it allows you to browse radio stations by music style and location, as well as to move from radio station to radio station within a format.

Furthermore it's possible to simply pick a song or artist to create your own commercial-free Custom Station featuring free music from that artist and similar ones where users can Choose from a catalog of over 16 million songs and 400,000 artists.

Take your favorite radio stations and Windows Phone music wherever you go. Log in to iHeartRadio for free through email or Facebook to make iHeartRadio uniquely yours. Create, save, and share your internet radio stations from wherever you access iHeartRadio.

While iHeartRadio is also available for other platforms, like Android, TuneIn Radio is available on much more devices and platforms and also not restricted to the US. Nevertheless, it has it fans and they can finally install it free of charge on their Windows Phone 8 devices.

Cheers ~ Arne
