RENAMED: T-Mobile renames the G1Touch to G2 Touch - still the HTC Hero [UPDATE]

Initially T-Mobile UK announced through its Twitter feed, that the HTC Hero was supposed to be called G1Touch. However, today T-Mobile UK tweeted that the HTC Hero isn't called G1Touch any longer but it will go on sale later this summer as the T-Mobile G2 Touch.
This leaves either room for another Android smartphone which might be called G1Touch or T-Mobile was a little bit to fast when it announced that the HTC Hero will be called G1Touch.
In any case, the good news is, that the HTC Hero is confirmed for T-Mobile UK (other European sister companies haven't announced anything yet) but T-Mobile US also confirmed that the HTC Hero will not make it to T-Mobile's North American network. Americans have to live with the HTC Magic which is on sale now as the T-Mobile myTouch 3G.

According to T-Mobile, the HTC Hero aka T-Mobile G2 Touch will be available later July.

UPDATE: T-Mobile UK just announced (again via Twitter), that the G2 Touch will be available free from £40 per month on Flext with £225 of credit and 18 months contract length.

Cheers ~ Arne
