Both, FCC and Expansys are always a good source for information about unannounced devices and this time, Expansys is already announcing HTC's latest UMTS device, code-named HTC Muse.
Not too much is known today, especially it's not confirmed that it will be released with the specifications as leaked before and now by Expansys but it seems to be confirmed, that the Muse will strongly focuses on media features and includes 4GB Flash Memory. It is expected to work on Windows Mobile 5.0 and according to Expansys it is expected to be released in July 2006.
Expansys believes it will be a 3G device with HSDPA, the extension to UMTS 3G technology that improves data transfer speeds up to 1.8 Mbit but the devices should also support GSM/GPRS and EDGE as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
The Muse should have a square 240 x 240 65,536-colour display only as well as a 2.1 megapixel camera with Flash. There's a more basic, VGA camera on the front for video calls. To distinguish this unit from other Media focused units HTC have included a pair of integrated stereo speakers, a TV port, FM radio and 4GB of Flash memory for media storage.
So far Expansys speculations and we have to wait anyway to get it officially announced by either a carrier or a reseller like Dopod, i-mate or Qtek.
A price indication wasn't given yet and I seriously hope, that the square 240 x 240 display is a joke and will be changed for the final design anyway. If it should be a media centric Pocket PC (and for me, media also includes video, not just audio or radio) it should better has a 16:9 display.
Cheers ~ Arne
