Following expansys UK's yesterday announcement to sell the HTC Universal as i-mate JasJar, today expansys made the revealed the i-mate K-JAM (K = Keyboard-JAM? ) which is the HTC Wizard.

Expansys writes:

The i-mate K- JAM Pocket PC will provide superior corporate email capabilities. With Window Mobile 5.0 corporations can be confident mobile email will be delivered to all their mobile professionals from this quality phone and innovative mobile office communicator. The new Windows Mobile 5.0 platform allows for scalable and cost-effective mobile messaging supported by Exchange 2003 out of the box, whilst your companies networks, data and applications are protected.

Operational choices include viewing the screen in portrait mode and using the K-JAM like the i-mate JAM, entering data with the stylus. However slide out the QWERTY keyboard and watch the screen automatically change to landscape. Enter data, write emails with the fully keyboard. Designed for two thumb use and very quick data entry, when you are finished the keyboard can then be neatly tucked away back under the device.

The i-mate K-JAM is available for "pre-order" from expansys UK and costs without a contract £ 489.95 which is equal US$ 882.302 or 718.929 Euro.

Now when you compare JASJAR and KJAM, you got like close similarities between the two: same OS version, Qwety keyboard, brilliant screen, etc.. of course with some variances.

Then you compare prices between the two, that's around 400$, you start wondering are these variances worth 400$?

I think i-mate is simply showing off with their new JASJAR device as it's going to compete against Nokia 9500 or 93x0, and they know that it is going to be hit so they are implementing this high profit. I am quite sure they are playing with us, and I am quite sure I'll buy JASJAR, not KJAM or nokia or anything smile

The Jasjar AKA HTC Universal has full VGA resolution (640 x 480) whereas the K-JAM (AKA HTC Wizard) only has half VGA resolution (320 x 240). The Jasjar also has the cool Tablet PC swivel screen feature but seems to be significantly bigger than the K-JAM.

I ended up choosing the K-JAM in part for price, size and the fact that the K-JAM is a quad band phone while the Jasjar is only triband.
