When Samsung announced and introduced the Galaxy S4 earlier this year, it was state of the art. However, as technology develops, Samsung will soon introduce an updated version of its Galaxy S4. As Deutsche Telekom unveiled this morning, Germany's number one mobile carrier is upgrading its LTE network from Cat 3 with 100 Mbps to Cat 4 with 150 Mbps. And as much as the mobile network requires an upgrade, the terminals also require an upgrade. This can be either done by firmware updates or by releasing new devices. Unfortunately is the current Galaxy S4 chipset, as sold in Germany (and most other European countries), not Cat 4 compatible which means it can't be upgraded to 150 Mbps. Therefore is Samsung releasing an updated version of the Galaxy S4 soon which then will also support Deutsche Telekom's upgraded 150 Mbps LTE network.
Yet no word if the name and or design of the Cat 4 Samsung Galaxy S4 will change but we have contacted Samsung for further information.
UPDATE: The updated Galaxy S4 will be called Galaxy S4 LTE+ aka the GT-I9506.
