Since I've reviewed the BoxWave miniSync sync and charge cable last month, I was using it day in day out with my O2 xda Pocket PC Phone Edition and as I also wrote 2 weeks ago that the O2 miniSync also seems to work with the Orange Smartphone. That time, when I tested it, I've used it with a HTC Canary, which was the development base for the Orange SPV. Now, I'm using the final version - a Danish SVP for more than one week and during this days, I haven't used the original cradle not one day nor the charger. miniSync truly works also with the SPV too and I even used it for the Danish ROM upgrade some days before! Beside that the xda miniSync works so far, BoxWave also offers a SPV version of miniSync now.
BoxWave's miniSync sync and charge cable is compact and its extendable and retractable cable allows it to be organized. When it's retracted, it won't become a tangled mess however you carry it.
Retracted it's small enough to fits even if your shirt pocket while extended it is up to 35". This is so convenient because you will not have any knotted cables if you take it out of your pocket.
Connected to every PC with a USB port it recharges the SPV battery and sync the SPV in the same time with Outlook.
As you can see below, ActiveSync recognize the SPV and synchronize it without any problems. On the middle picture, you can see in the upper right corner, that the SPV recognize the miniSync cable as charger and indicates this with the charging icon.
I've also used miniSync during the past days with AC chargers for USB sync and charge cables as well as within my car with 12V car chargers and never run into any problems. Also it was used to upgrade the ROM image of the SPV and even with this "highly dangerous" ROM rewriting I haven't noticed any difficulties.
As useful miniSync is with every Pocket PC as useful it is to be used for the Orange SPV. A cell phone is designed to be light and portable and if I need to charge it, I don't want to carry any bulky chargers or cradles with me. Here BoxWave's miniSync is the perfect addition to keep my luggage light. I even carry my miniSync cable in my Jacket as it allows me to sync and charge my Smartphone with my office PC without buying a second and more expensive cradle!
So if you are a (happy) owner and user of the Orange SPV and you are looking for an additional USB cable for your mobile phone, you should think about using the miniSync cable instead of buying a cradle or sync only cable from Orange. Like before with the xda miniSync the SPV miniSync is highly recommended for every mobile professional!
BoxWave's miniSync is available from BoxeWave's online shop. It costs US$ 24.95 and all miniSync's are shipped international too.
