The o2 xda has the same serial connector like the HP iPAQ 3800/3900 but unfortunately the pin assignment is different. Because of this you can not use HP iPAQ 3800/3900 accessories nor previous available adapters like Targus Foldable Keyboard adapter or Gomadic's iPAQ 3600 to 3800/3900 adapter.
Thankfully datanywhere.com released some weeks ago it's iPAQ 3600 to Pocket PC Phone adapter which I received for testing today.

I've tested the adapter with the Targus Foldable Keyboard as well as with my Pharos HP iPAQ 3600 GPS system and it worked with both, right from the scratch.

Size
The adapter is "nothing more" than just a pin assignment converter and therefore it's pretty small and light.

Compared to the original Stowaway keyboard adapter the datanywhere.com adapter is smaller but higher. Unfortunately it doesn't includes  power jack like the Stowaway has. The benefit here is that you can use a charger while you are using your xda with the keyboard. Because the datanywhere.com doesn't includes this power jack, you have to work with the built-in battery only.

Functionality
The adapter plugs into the Stowaway keyboard smooth and also the xda fits perfect. The adapter includes the original two clips on the site which prevents from shifting and gives the whole combination a perfect fit.

The Targus drivers which was originally designed for the Compaq iPAQ also works right from the installation with the xda.

Final Conclusion

The o2 xda/T-Mobile is something for the mobile professional and also the Foldable Keyboard is an essential accessory if you want to increase your productivity. If you changed from an iPAQ to the xda the datanywhere.com adapter is a real must for you but also if you have other iPAQ 3600 accessories in stock.
So the xda adapter also worked with my Pharos GPS system (charging and positioning) as well as with my good old serial iPAQ cable.

The datanywhere.com adapter is unique so far - no other 3rd party vendor delivers anything similar and available for US$ 29.95.

For me this bucks are worth as I can use my xda more productive now!

Cheers ~ Arne
