How often do you find yourself needing to beam your Business Card really quick but find it such an ordeal needing to go through a multi-step process that you would rather give your details verbally or or simply hand out a business card(paper)? If this is how you feel about beaming business cards from a Pocket PC, read on.

Pocket PCs have this capability, but the long process it actually takes to send one out simply defeats the purpose. While other PDAs and even cellular phones offer an option to send out your own business card in a simple fashion, the Pocket PC doesn't. Enter Two Peaks with their simple solution to send out business cards in a quick simple process - BizBeam.

Bizbeam is a simple utility that memorizes two business cards and a specific file for easy beaming. A nice feature of this utility is that it includes a Today Screen plug-in which allows seding out a business card by simple tapping on the specific icons with your fingertips. If you feel that screen real estate is to importat for you, a hardware buton can also be assigned to bring up the full screen interface which also has the same large icons that does away with using a stylus. Either way it takes no more than two button presses/taps to send out a business card.

I've been using it for a week now and I've never had an easier time beaming my info. The ability to store two business cards is a real boon as you don't need to edit your formation on the fly if ever you decide to give a condensed version of your business card. Personally, I use the first vcard for my photography business and use the second vcard for the local Pocket PC users group I head. It would be nice if the choice of cards or files can be changed to suite my requirements, as I'd be happier having the capability to beam three business cards instead of just two business cards and a file. So I'm just crossing my fingers, hoping that the next version will have more features.

BizBeam may well be in its initial release but proves to be an indispensible utility that saves time and brings beaming functionality to a Pocket PC up the ranks to a more useful level. What I'd like to see in the future though is complete hardware button support for press, press and hold, or double press to send out specifically assigned business cards and files. Right now though, another utility (Vito Button Mapper) does good work adding these features to BizBeam, but having them built-in may well be far more practical.

A five-day Trial is available and this nifty utility is available for US$4.95
