From today, T-Mobile Germany also supports their latest Windows Mobile devices (the
recently released MDA Pocket PC Phone Editions as well as the recently released SDA Smartphone) with its off-board navigation called NaviGate.
First NaviGate requires the installation of a small application, than T-Mobile NaviGate route queries can not only be booked individually but also in a favorably-priced subscription. This, for instance, also turns the
dynamic navigation system into a favorably-priced traffic jam monitor.
NaviGate 10 offers ten route queries per month, and is therefore suitable for
people who are not permanently on the road. With NaviGate 1000 T-Mobile
customers receive 1,000 route recommendations per month - an investment that
above all pays off for people who are permanently on the move, such as commuters
or traveling salespersons.
In working out a route, T-Mobile NaviGate always
takes into account the latest traffic situation, and either recommends the
shortest or the fastest route to the required destination. If there are traffic
jams along the route, the system works out alternative routes if these save
time. For commuters this is important information even on routes that they know,
because it enables them to get to their destinations faster. If desired,
T-Mobile NaviGate also updates information on the traffic situation
during the journey.
Technical further developments are automatically made available to Navigate
users. Hence, the route calculations are now made even faster than usual. The
MAD and SDA software versions can be downloaded free from the Internet. For
using the system in the car, subscribers not only require a cell phone but also
a GPS unit, the Navigate-Carkit, for instance with the convenient cordless

T-Mobile NaviGate naturally also functions in neighboring foreign countries:
T-Mobile offers the navigation service In Italy, France, Belgium, the
Netherlands, Austria, Luxembourg and Switzerland, although the dynamic route
guidance is not available here. An important feature for countries where there
are tolls on roads is that the system works out whether roads subject to such
charges, or also ferries, can be avoided.
