Boy Genius Report received an anonymous tip, that AT&T is preparing the launch
of a couple of new handsets. Beside a BlackBerry, a Pantech and another Motorola
RAZR device, it looks like AT&T is also preparing the launch of the Motorola
MOTO Q9 and the SMT5700 (manufactured by Chinese Amoi).
While the Motorola MOTO Q9 is well known already (a Windows Mobile 6 Standard
smartphone featuring GSM/GPRS/EDGE as well as UMTS and HSDPA), not too much is
known about Amoi's SMT5700, except the stuff the
FCC unveiled some time ago (on the left the Motorola MOTO Q, on the right
the Amoi SMT5700):
As far as we know today, the SMT5700 was initially planned to be released as
EDGE (only) device running Windows Mobile 5.0 for Smartphone only. Let's hope
AT&T convinced Amoi to upgrade it to Windows Mobile 6 Standard instead.
Prices aren't given yet but according to the sources, a launch is expected for
24th August (for the Motorola MOTO Q9) and 24th or 28th August for SMT5700.
Do you know more? If so, let us know!
Cheers ~ Arne
