At least you could read the press release of Picsel that way because both - Picsel and Palm are talking about the "upcoming line of Windows Mobile-based Treo smartphones".
However, at least we know now, that you will be able to read PDF files on the Treo 700w as well as on the following Windows Mobile devices because Picsel Technologies has just announced its Picsel PDF Viewer will be optimized for "Palm, Inc.'s future line of Microsoft Windows Mobile-based Palm Treo smartphones, the first of which is expected to be available to Verizon Wireless customers in early 2006."
Picsel PDF Viewer will allow Treo smartphone users to access full, native PDF documents directly from their handsets, without having to convert or reformat content.
Motorola MPx220 users should already know the Picsel viewer because it is also part of this Smartphone and allows you to read most of your Office documents including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF.
Picsel and Palm comments the cooperation that way:
Grant Ballantyne, Director of Commercial Operations at Picsel Technologies Ltd, said: "PDF Viewer will revolutionise the way PDF content is accessed on the move. Our applications are designed to maximize the effectiveness and usefulness of leading edge devices such as Palm Treo smartphones. We are delighted to be working with Palm and look forward to the future."
While Paul Leeper seriously indicates that there will be more Windows Mobile Treo versions while I'm not sure if he is just referring to the different carrier versions or wireless versions of the same device:
Paul Leeper, Director of Developer Relations at Palm, Inc., said: "Picsel's PDF Viewer is a remarkable application that will deliver a fantastic user experience on our upcoming line of Windows Mobile-based Treo smartphones. It is a smart, intuitive solution and a feature requested by many mobile workers."
Anyway, Picsel PDF Viewer is a lead application from Picsel's range of content enabling solutions, which deliver market leading content and rich experiences to any device. Reinforcing the company's position as the leading content enabler for mobile, Picsel's technology allows high-end multimedia functionality to be delivered across all phones and operating systems.
Cheers ~ Arne
