So
called "reliable sources" have told WMPowerUser that HTC's rumored "HTC Obsession"
is said to be HTC's next super-phone, following the
HTC Diamond2
and HTC HD2.
According to the tipster, the so called
HTC Diamond3,
is expected to be launched in summer already and running Windows Mobile 7
instead of Windows Mobile 6.5. The device is said to be powered by a Qualcomm QSD8250
CPU at 1 GHz, it's said to feature GSM and WCDAM (most likely UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA),
a 3.7" capacitive AMOLED multitouch touchscreen and sports a 5 megapixel
autofocus camera with flash which is capable of recording HD videos at 720p with
25 fps.
At a size of 112 x 56 x 11.7 mm, the device is said to come with 512 MB RAM
and 512 MB ROM and additionally feature 4 GB internal flash memory which is
expandable via microSD cards. The removable 1230 mAh battery is said to give the
device a talk time of up to 10 hours (with a standby time of up to 10 days) and
Internet use of 6 hours (through 3G) or 7.5 hours (through WiFi).
WMPowerUser's tipster also said, that unlike previous Diamonds, the device will not be coming in a CDMA version,
following poor sales of the last HTC Diamond. Therefore the HTC Diamond3 is set to come later this year
to AT&T and T-Mobile USA.
Quite interesting is the fact that neither an HTC Obsession, nor a HTC
Diamond3 was mentioned on HTC's
earlier leaked Windows Mobile roadmap. On the other hand, the roadmap only
showed "pre-Windows Mobile 7" devices which could be a prove for the device's
existence.
