Two days ago I wrote here about the mysterious new Smartphone competitor which is to be announced tomorrow and I've rumored about LG which was completely wrong! Sorry guys... ;-)

I got an anonymous E-Mail with some interesting information and it isn't neither an Asian nor a European company but a US American one :!: which is going to introduce its first Windows Mobile Smartphone tomorrow. The first one who guess it right here will win a Microsoft Mobile2Market voucher. :-)

Some hints:

  • So far they haven't released any phones but have a real strong experience in the wireless (data) area.
  • They are well known for their embedded wireless solutions but haven't developed any phones by themselves so far.
  • They have visited PPCW.Net pretty often and frequent in the past but I don't share my server files with you.

Who is "Anonymous Inc."?

Vote now and win your Mobile2Market voucher - powered by Handango which is valid for a Smartphone or Pocket PC application.

Cheers ~ Arne

I think it is At&T

Could it be Cisco? I know they're very keen on VoIP and maybe they see possibilities for fusing GSM with their W-LAN VoIP.

BTW: Carlo IM'ed me the proper answer and he hadn't received that information...

However, Editors can not contribute but it shows me that you can find it out too... :-)

Good luck ~ Arne

Is it Siemens?

Posted by Arne Hess on 07.10.03 - 15:19:30

@Todd Edwards: No, for sure not! They are one of the originator of GSM and develops handsets for it since 1992!

Maybe they are not that well known in the US but at least here in Europe. Also Siemens is a German not US company...

Arne, is it Qualcomm?

The hints didn't show up for me the 1st time I hit this page.  I'd like to change my vote to CSR.

Could it be a smartphone manufactured by Compal, but sold by EverLink Wireless under the brand name "red e"?
