According to a recent report by WinRumors, Microsoft is already working on a second Windows Phone 7 update which is expected to follow the January Windows Phone 7 update anytime February. While Microsoft has yet not confirmed any release dates, it's expected that the company will launch its first Windows Phone 7 update, which will most likely featuring copy & paste, anytime January. However, according to WinRumors, Microsoft is already working on a follow-up update and has chosen the upcoming Mobile World Congress to unveil it. If it's really released in February and announced during the Mobile World Congress, it might be a much more important update than the January update.
According to a source who spoke to WinRumors, Microsoft's second update will be a significant one. The company is currently planning to unveil a first update, to introduce copy and paste functionality, in January at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES).
One tester, who did not want to be named, claimed the update will excite developers: "The update includes some great new features for developers; Windows Phone 7 apps in 2011 will certainly become more interesting."
Microsoft's second update will introduce enhanced developer controls for applications and it's expected that it will open up further new APIs that will allow for greater multi-tasking, in-app downloads and better customization for end users. According to WinRumors and its source, Microsoft is currently compiling beta builds of the update and has shipped some early bits to external beta testers already.
