According to an Interview in the German "Handelsblatt" (a "serious" newspaper like Financial Times), Microsoft plans to launch the first Smartphones 2002 in Europe before Christmas this year! USA and Japan will follow later.

And yes; according to this story they are talking about Smartphones not only a Smartphone... Does it mean that we will see different brands and models before Christmas here in Europe?

First of all: Great that I live in Europe... ;-)
Second: Why does I still don't have a Smartphone 2002 in my hands today? :-(

Cheers ~ Arne

sorry arne,
I alread had a z100 for some testing in my hands, but it is not as great as I expected.

Currently P800 seems more promising than Z100, Canary or some other Singer phones - allthough it is Symbian.

Don't blame me ;-)

@mr! Thanks for your feedback and also I had the Microsoft Smartphone in my hands before (way before you had it in yours ;-) and I'm still expecting something cool. However I'm sure that Ericsson and Nokia built some cool Smartphones too - unfortunately based on Symbian.
I mean this companies have a long experience in building cool mobile phones with even cooler features and GUIs but that's not the point I see here for me. For me a Smartphone 2002 is more or less a cell phone based Pocket PC Phone Edition and while I'm sure Nokia and Ericsson release some cool new phones in the future too, I'm sure that also the Smartphone 2002 is a kind of way how a cell phone can/will looks like.

stinger as cell phone PPC phone edition will not penetrate the market enough to satisfy MS. potential customer base is too small. but going for high tier hndset mass market - that the place to earn some decent $s.

comparing stinger devices with series 60 phones like 7650, 3650 or K1 - this makes sense.
and it seems right now that we need to waiting the "typical" 3 versions of a MS product to get a good shot ...

I let you know when I got my canary :d

cheers mate!
