RUMOR: SlingPlayer Mobile to hit Android and webOS anytime soon?

While nothing is confirmed, a recent job posting on Sling Media's website unveiled that the company behind the Slingboxes is looking for a "Senior Mobile User Interface Designer". The job will be "to create the next generation user interfaces for Sling Media customers. The Senior Mobile User Interface Designer works closely with Product Management to define visual design and user interaction for Sling’s mobile products. This position requires a deep understanding and passion for UX". However, most interesting is the part where Sling Media highlights the required expertise: "on the existing user interface paradigms used on iPhone, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, Symbian, Android, and webOS".

Sure enough, SlingPlayer Mobile already exists for Windows Mobile, Symbian, iPhone and BlackBerry but all four platforms feature a different UI and user experience where the iPhone UI might be the most finger friendly while the Windows Mobile platform is the most complete and feature-richest.
Therefore it sounds a little bit like Sling Media plans to overhaul and unify the user experience on all existing platforms and while they are reworking the UI, it makes sense to add the next and yet missing smartphone platforms to the portfolio of supported SlingPlayer Mobile operating systems as well.

Cheers ~ Arne
