While we somewhat know or can expect, that Microsoft's upcoming Windows Phone 7 will come with native Windows Live and Facebook support, as well as we know some of the games now, Microsoft plans to release for Windows Phone 7, Microsoft hasn't unveiled too much about other services Windows Phone 7 might support natively. For instance Twitter or Foursquare, you name it. Nevertheless, here's an interesting rumor that Windows Phone 7 might support Twitter - out of the box - as well. Michael Klucher, Microsoft Lead Program Manger - XNA Development Platform at Microsoft has twittered a couple of photos from the current Gamescom in Cologne where Microsoft shows Games for Windows Phone 7.
He used Twitpic for the photo upload and like Twitter, Twitpic is also showing the client which was used for the upload. Now you have several options to upload photos to Twitpic: Straight from the site, via E-Mail or via supported Twitter clients and while most of his photos were uploaded from the web site, some of his very recent photos were uploaded by an application called "To be named later" which links back to www.microsoft.com:
Sure, it could be any kind of Microsoft service, it could be even an outdated KIN device but since he's the Lead Program Manger for Microsoft's XNA Development Platform who's working on game development for all, the photos seems to be uploaded mobile and since they were about Windows Phone 7 games, there's a good chance that he has uploaded the photos from Windows Phone 7!
This assumption is even backed-up by a further look into the EXIF and photo information (right screenshot above) which confirms that the photos were taken with a Samsung "camera" which leads us to the assumption that Michael might have used the Samsung Windows Phone 7 developer device to snap and upload the photos.
At this point, there's no confirmation that Microsoft will offer Twitter support either out of the box or as a separate app-download from the Marketplace (even if we can expect other Twitter clients will available anyway, like Seesmic) but it would be quite nice if Windows Phone 7 would have the latest and greatest social networks preinstalled.
Cheers ~ Arne
