Are you a happy Windows (8) user on your PC and using Office 365; but for your smartphone you trust in Android? Then, Microsoft has something new for you. Right today, Microsoft launched Office Mobile for Office 365 (for Android). What sounds like a typical Microsoft product name is indeed pretty powerful. Microsoft Office Mobile is the official Office companion optimized for Android phones. It allows to access, view and edit Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint documents from virtually anywhere. Documents look like the originals, thanks to support for charts, animations, SmartArt graphics and shapes. When quick edits are done or comments were added to a document, the formatting and content remain intact.
Office Mobile for Office 365 allows to access documents from virtually anywhere and includes the cloud which means that Office documents that are stored on SkyDrive, SkyDrive Pro, or SharePoint can be easily edited. Recent documents allows to view recently on computer edited documents. E-Mail attachments can be viewed and edited as well
Even offline is supported which means the Android device doesn't have to be continuously connected to the network to work on an Office document that is stored online. Changes will be saved online when the device reconnects to the network or to WiFi.
To get Office Mobile for Office 365 working, it requires a qualifying Office 365 subscription and an Android 4.0 or higher smartphone; tablets are yet not supported. Qualifying plans include Office 365 Home Premium, Office 365 Small Business Premium, Office 365 Midsize Business, Office 365 Enterprise E3 and E4 (Enterprise and Government), Office 365 Education A3 and A4, Office 365 ProPlus, Office 365 University and Office 365 trial subscriptions. Office 365 Home Premium can be purchased online and gives users the latest version of Office for up to 5 PCs, Macs and Windows tablets; as well as an additional 20 GB of SkyDrive cloud storage and Skype world minutes.
Cheers ~ Arne
