Following the release for iOS, myTaxi has now also released its updated Android app which features the first mobile payment system on the German taxi market. With myTaxi Payment, passengers can easily pay their taxi with their smartphone, no cash or credit cards involved anymore. Up until now there has been no mobile payment system in Germany that worked without additional NFC solutions, QR codes or dongles. In contrast, myTaxi Payment creates a direct connection, without additional external hardware or technology. After the ride, the bill is simply transferred to the passenger's smartphone where the payment is then confirmed. Passengers can even add an extra tip, straight from the app.

With myTaxi Payment, from now on, passengers in Germany will be able to travel by taxi without the need of any cash, which can comes handy after a night out when you spend all your money for the last drink. While taxi drivers have to pay a 3.9 % disagio plus the 21 Cent transaction fee for every successfully provided myTaxi Payment, myTaxi passengers won't have to pay anything extra nor there are any hidden setup fees.

While the myTaxi Payment will be initially available in Germany only but it's said that it will be expanded to myTaxi's international locations later this year as well. At the moment, myTaxi available in selected German (Berlin, Bonn, Dresden, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Köln, Leipzig, München, Mainz, Potsdam, Stuttgart, Sylt) and international (Wien, Zürich, Barcelona, Sydney) cities.

MyTaxi Payment is now available for Android and iOS. The recently launched Windows Phone 7 app is not yet supporting mobile payment.
