Yesterday evening Twitter has released an update of its popular client for Android smartphones. According to Twitter, the new v1.0.5 is said to be faster and comes with a cleaner timeline, a tweet details page (a feature which is already available in Twitter for iPhone, Twitter for iPad and Twitter for Windows Phone 7) which makes it easier to click on links and reply to, retweet, or favorite a tweet. Furthermore, Twitter for Android is said to be even faster now and Twitter said that it tried a new way of drawing a timeline of tweets that optimizes for scrolling speed. Last but not least Twitter polished up some features by adding pull to refresh, swipe to reveal and allowing to quote a retweet.
Also new is the support for high-resolution avatar photos.
As before, Twitter for Android requires Android 2.1 or better but with the current roll-out of Android 2.1 for Sony Ericsson's line of Xperia X10 smartphones, there shouldn't be too many user left now. It's now available for free from the Android Market.
Cheers ~ Arne
