SUCCESS: Germany has more mobile phones than inhabitants

Since August, there are more mobile phones in Germany than inhabitants, the German telecom industry federation Bitkom recently said.
As of August 1, there were a total of 82.8 million mobile phone accounts in Germany compared with a population of about 82 million, Bitkom calculated.
More and more people were taking advantage of favorable price trends to acquire a second mobile phone, the federation explained Monday.

But hey, most Germans have started to have two or even more phone contracts (I for instance have 4) so we are not talking about more mobile phones than inhabitants but contracts.
But not bad at all if you think that the GSM networks only launched 14 years ago.

Cheers ~ Arne
