TELEMETRIC: O2 supports BMW Motorsport at the 24hrs Race

This years technology partner of BMW at the 24hrs race on the Nürburgring (Germany) was O2 Germany who provided the used Xda III and network infrastructure.
Based on infoware's GPRS and GPS tracking solution, the BMW mechanics crew got the current vehicle position as well as telemetric data on their Xda III Pocket PCs.
These data also included vital values like engine speed, mileage, speed information and the overal telemetric monitoring of the engine and car.

Even Dr. Mario Theissen, head of BMW Motorsport Group, used an Xda III while he was in Barcelona today for the Formula 1 Grand Pix race and he stood connected with his engineers in Germany via GPRS and the used Xda III!

Another great example how Pocket PCs, GSM/GPRS and GPS can used in serious cases to make the motor-sport even more successful.
I should also mention that BMW won the 24hrs. Thanks to the used Pocket PCs? Not sure but at least it helped - I'm sure.

Well done O2 and congratulations BMW!

Cheers ~ Arne

XDAIII?  Is that the same as the IIs?  How come the picture seems to not look like (looks like the XDAIIi).

Anyway, I guess it's just a proof of concept picture (edited) and not the actual one used by BMW.  smile

It's a further proof how much performance has such a small gadget. Maybe you will see it i the Formula 1 as well. I think i could be a successful  advertisement for the PDA market.

Best regards hirsch

Can anyone help Me? I am trying to get my O2XDAii to sync via bluetooth with a current bmw 5 series without any luck. The car blue tooth kit works with Ericson phones.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Sean
