You know that I like the Compaq Wireless Pack but not the original Wireless Pack GUI. So one thought I had when I got the Running Voice GSM 2.0 Beta was if version 2 would supports the Wireless Pack now. As Running Voice GSM 2.0 supports the Option GlobeTrotter GPRS card there is a chance that it is supported because the wireless part of the Wireless Pack is indeed the Option GlobeTrotter card and here we go for the result:
The Compaq Wireless Pack GUI The same Wireless Pack but with RV 2.0

As you can see, Running Voice GSM 2.0 supports the Wireless Pack now! :-) However, I have to say, that I have the latest non-public Wireless Pack firmware on my jacket and so I'm not sure if it also works with today's commercial Wireless Pack firmware too. Anyway - HPaq is working on a new firmware for the Wireless Pack which should be available soon for download too.
On the other side, don't forget that the Wireless Pack will still runs in the background, you can not "overflash" the Compaq GUI with Running Voice 2.0 so you still have to enter the PIN on the Wireless Pack Voice Center. Also such settings like the band switch between 900/1800 MHz and 900/1900 MHz have to be done within the Wireless Pack. This isn't supported (today?) by Running Voice 2.0.

Anyway - that's real good news for all of you out there with the Compaq Wireless Pack who looks for an alternative to the Compaq GUI... :-)

Cheers ~ Arne
