If you want to use your Smartphone 2002 for web access also and you came from the Pocket PC platform you might notice that ActiveSync doesn't synchronize your Favorites from your Desktop PC to your Smartphone as you used to use it with your Pocket PC.
Since it is pretty annoying to add the entire site URLs and site Names again on a T9 keyboard only you could use this little workaround to copy your Desktop Favorites to your Smartphone.
Open your Internet Explorer's Favorite bar and the left side and Expand the folder you want to copy.
If you already have a "Mobile Favorites" folder (which is added by ActiveSync automatically if you connect a Pocket PC with your Desktop) in most cases you could use this. Mostly all Pocket PC sites works on Smartphone as well.
If you don't have a dedicated Mobile Favorites folder today, you should create a new one where you should add all Pocket PC and Smartphone optimized URLs. (a good point to start for searching Pocket Internet Explorer optimized sites is
If you want to copy the complete folder select it and open the context menu with the right mouse button. Tap "Copy" here.
However, you can also copy single URLs by just selecting the URL you want to copy.
Now open the Windows Explorer on your Desktop and navigate to IPSMWindowsFavorites
That's the place where your Smartphone stores the URLs/Favorites for its Internet Explorer and select "Paste" from the context menu.
Now your Favorites will be copied from your Desktop PC to your Smartphone, that's it.
Here you can also rearrange the folders and can even rename it which is far more convenient than doing this stuff on the Smartphone.
This little workaround will helps you to have all your Favorites with you also on your Smartphone 2002. However, make sure to sync the folders from time to time as this workaround doesn't do it automatically as ActiveSync does it for you on you Pocket PC.
