TIP: The Orange SPV works with the O2 xda USB Cables [UPDATE 13.01.03]

Because the Orange SPV has the same connector like the O2 xda (both are manufactured by HTC) I've just tested if the USB cables from the xda would work with the SPV and it did!

But not the USB cable for ActiveSync only but also the USB sync and charge cables like available from Boxwave or Gomadic!

This makes the hard to find accessories search easier because you can simply go with existing xda cables:

As you can see above, I'm using the Boxwave xda USB sync and charge cable to connect with ActiveSync and charged the battery the same time.

Unfortunately HTC inverted the plug which means today's adapters like the iPAQ H3600 to xda adapter will not work, even if drivers would become available for the connected accessories:

However, it's great to see that we are pretty close to get the coolest accessories for the SPV too! Because I was using a pre-production test sample, I'm not sure how it looks with the final release version. Can anyone of you can confirm that this combination works with the commercial SPV too?

Cheers ~ Arne

UPDATE:I got some questions if the device really charges and according to the HTC BatteryMonitor it does:

I got the notification that the "%" value increase up to 100 %. So it charges!

Oh yes, I forgot just a final thought: I wonder when we will see the first GPS applications like routing for the SPV. Now it's not a question of the GPS antenna anymore but a question of the right application and storing the maps.
An additional note: I've also tested the charging with the Gomadic 12V car adapter and an USB cable in my car successful!

Dear Everybody,

I was wondering whether anyone could help me with the following:

I live in Germany and I have a contract with T-Mobile (a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom) and I got a mobile phone from my sister who lives in Paris. It´s a PVC C500 (Orange) and I wonder whether I could use it in Germany and what can I do to unlock it.

Thx in advance for any tips

This is not really a tip, more a warning:

My SPV C550 ran completely flat last night and I tried to charge it up using the computer USB cable. Because there wasn't a bean of charge left in the battery, the computer didn't recognise that something was plugged in and so didn't send any current to the charging pins. The solution (which wouldn't have worked if I didn't have the transformer charger with me) was just to give it a few seconds from the charger (during which the left hand light lit up red and then orange) and then plug it into the computer.

The moral is: don't let your phone run down completely if you don't have the main charger with you.
