Not sure how many of you are using NewsGator as well but I'm a big fan of NewsGator since I bought NewsGator Inbox for Outlook back in 2004. The real benefit for me was all the time that NewsGator synchronizes the subscribed RSS feeds across all its supported platforms and clients. While initially not free, NewsGator now offers all its RSS readers for individuals for free which includes NewsGator Inbox for Microsoft Office Outlook, NetNewsWire for Mac but also NewsGator Go for Windows Mobile Professional and Standard smartphones as well as NetNewsWire for the iPhone. The base for the synchronization between all these clients is NewsGator Online which is also a great web-based feed reader on its own.

For some reasons, I never get used to use the Windows Mobile clients of NewsGator but I always preferred NewsGator Online which is also also available as NewsGator Mobile Edition for use with mobile phones. While it worked quite good with Windows Mobile's inbuilt Internet Explorer Mobile it never worked that good with Opera Software's recently released Opera Mobile 9.5 Windows Mobile browser which is also preinstalled on many Windows Mobile smartphones now. For some reasons, even if a mobile device site, it always opens the pages zoomed-out in the overview mode which requires a lot of zoom-in/zoom-out to read RSS feeds or to tap any links:

Anyway, with the release of the iPhone last year, NewsGator also released an iPhone compatible NewsGator Mobile site which also works brilliant with Opera Mobile 9.5. Beside it's also looking a little bit nicer with the RSS icon in front of each RSS feed, it's instantly opening all pages zoomed-in which allows immediately reading and tapping on links:

Anyway, if you are also using NewsGator Online and Opera Mobile 9.5, I definitely suggest to try out NewsGator Online Mobile on your Windows Mobile smartphone as well. It's available through If you are currently not using NewsGator, you might want to create a NewsGator Online account and want to download a client for your Computer as well, it's definitely worth and for me, the NewsGator readers are still the best available RSS feed readers available.

Cheers ~ Arne

The Mobile NewsGator site was available for a couple of years before the iPhone came out. I've been using it on my Windows Mobile devices since the launch of their NewsGator Enterprise Server, which I had installed for review back then. The mobile version was then ported to their free service as well.

It's not an "iPhone" thing...

That's exactly what I said, NewsGator Online Mobile Edition came (a litttle bit later) after NewsGator Online but have you ever tried to use it with Opera Mobile 9.5 (I mean the version with the PIN which doesn't requires a login). It requires zoom in/out. NewsGator Mobile for iPhone was just launched last year and this works way better with Opera 9.5.
