UNVEILED: E-Plus silently tests HSDPA in Germany

E-Plus, a German GSM and UMTS network operator, and the last carrier in Germany which hasn't HSDPA alive, seems to silently test HSDPA now (finally). At least that's what I've see since yesterday on my O2 Xda comet which never indicated a H (for HSDPA) so far but an U (for UMTS) only. And yes, sources close to E-Plus confirmed this on request but said only a very few parts of the E-Plus network got this HSDPA upgrade yet.
You might wonder why this is so important, at least for me? Well, E-Plus is the only carrier in Germany which offers true and unlimited 2.5G and 3G data flat which is somewhat important for me.

Since I'm often working mobile (from coffee houses, hotels or press conferences and events) as well as I'm streaming my media quite often over my Media Center, using WebGuide4 or place-shifting my TV using my Slingbox I need an unlimited flat data access without fearing to pay anything extra after I've reached the limit.
While in general, I'm not satisfied with E-Plus mobile data (aka UMTS) performance, I have some hope now, that the network will getting better with HSDPA. Well, I will continue on this topic and will keep you updated.

Cheers ~ Arne
