When HTC unveiled its Windows Phone 7 smartphone portfolio, HTC also announced the upcoming launch of the HTC 7 Pro, a landscape QWERTY-keyboard slider smartphone. However, at that time, HTC only mentioned an upcoming North American CDMA version. Nevertheless, later HTC continued with further information that the HTC 7 Pro might also be released as a GSM/UMTS version and indeed, as it looks now, the HTC 7 Pro is ready to be launched in Europe any time early next year. The HTC 7 Pro is powered by a 1 GHz Qualcomm CPU and features quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE as well as dualband UMTS/HSDPA (7.2 Mbps)/HSUPA (2 Mbps) at 900/2100 MHz.

Furthermore, the device features WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, a digital compass, G-, proximity- and ambient-light sensor. It sports a 3.6" WVGA touchscreen and a 5 megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash and the ability to record 720p HD videos. The memory is said to be 576 MB RAM and 512 MB ROM with an internal (non removable) storage of 8 GB. At a size of 59 x 117.5 x 15.5 mm, the HTC 7 Pro weights 185 g, including the 1500 mAh battery. Furthermore, the device features a sliding and tilting full QWERTY 5-row keyboard for fast, comfortable typing.

While the GSM/UMTS compatible HTC 7 Pro was yet not officially announced (except that HTC has the specs above on its very own website), it turned out recently that the HTC 7 Pro was just approved by the GCF as the PC92100!

Also we've just got our hands on a prototype (see photo above) there's yet no official word about an expected launch date but sources told us that the HCT 7 Pro should hit Europe anytime very early 2011!

Cheers ~ Arne
