UNVEILED: HTC Maple Windows Mobile Standard Smartphone shows its face

Not sure where or how CNet Germany got its hand on this Windows Mobile Standard smartphone but during the recent Mobile World Congress, CNet Germany spent some quality time with a so far unannounced 2009 HTC smartphone, the "HTC Maple", a kind of HTC Excalibur follower with a QWERTY thumb-keyboard and a BlackBerry-like trackball.
Most likely featuring Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard, it's only confirmed that the Maple is featuring a 2.0 megapixel camera. It's neither confirmed if the HTC Maple supports 3/3.5G nor is it known if WiFi or GPS are onboard or not:

In addition to the blurry photos above, CNet Germany was also able to record a short video of the HTC Maple

It's not yet known if the HTC Maple will be released nor is it known at what time and where.

Cheers ~ Arne

I'm really wondering wether it would be clever to buy a WM 6.1-Smartphone now, as WM 6.5 is most likely to emerge in 2009, maybe already in summer. Would it be possible to upgrade?
