its earlier unofficial surface, today HTC announced the HTC Tattoo which was
previously known as the HTC Click - HTC's latest Android smartphone. Powered by
a Qualcomm MSM7225 CPU at 528 MHz, the HTC Tattoo runs on Android 1.5 Donut and
supports quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE as well as dualband UMTS/HSDPA at 900/2100 MHz.
Furthermore, the Tattoo comes with support for Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, WiFi b/g and
aGPS. The - yet for an Android smartphone unique - resistive 2.8" touchscreen features a QVGA resolution and the fixfocus camera
supports 3.2 megapixel. The devices comes with 512 MB ROM and 256 MB RAM which
can be expanded by microSD cards.
Unlike all previous HTC Android smartphones, the HTC Tattoo doesn't features
a trackball but a more traditional 5-way D-pad but the Tattoo also features a
3.5 mm stereo headset jack which becomes pretty much standard now. At a size of
106 x 55,2 x 14 mm, the Tattoo weights 108g.
Like the HTC Hero, which was the first, the HTC Tattoo will also feature
HTC's Sense UI.
But - being a "Fun Phone" - how HTC calls it which focus way more on the
consumer and youth market, the Tattoo comes with a novum for HTC phones: A
removable and replaceable front cover (we know this from earlier Nokia phones)
which will allow the user to further customize the phone!
HTC will release the Tattoo in Europe from October and in Germany, Austria
and Switzerland, the device will retail for 339 Euro/499 Swiss Franken.
Furthermore, the HTC Tattoo will be carried in Germany by E-Plus, O2 and
