Last night, Google has updated its Google Maps Mobile client for Android and the new Google Maps for mobile 4.1 client sports a few features that make sorting through search results or quickly seeing Maps info a bit easier. With the newly reimagined Google Maps for mobile search results page, Google has thrown away the tabs to give you all the info you want on one page. Tap the new buttons to see the place on the map, get directions, call it, or see it with Street View. The extra space let us bring details and reviews right up front. Furthermore grab the page with your finger and swipe it away to the left or right to see the next or last result.

Google Maps Mobile 4.1 also offers a couple of different ways to put Maps up close and personal on your phone. Version 1.4 now features a Latitude widget for the home screen to see your nearest Latitude friends. On Android 2.1+ phones, you can also turn your home screen into one big, updating map using the Maps live wallpaper.

Furthermore, Google Maps Mobile now lets you manage multiple identities by allowing to switch the Google account to be a different one from the one which is used to synchronize the Android smartphone. Features like Google Buzz, Latitude, Starred items, My Maps and more can now begin used with whichever account you've chosen.

Google Maps Mobile 4.1 is now available for free from Google's Android Market and supports all devices running Android 1.6 or better. Version 4.1 is available in all the countries and languages where Google Maps is currently available.

Cheers ~ Arne
