Microsoft has released a new ActiveSync 3.7.1 build which is the latest synchronization software for Windows Mobile-based Pocket PCs and Smartphones now. ActiveSync 3.7.1 contains fixes making synchronization more trouble free than ever before.

As far as I've heard it includes some serious bug fixes which gives the used a better experience and should causes less trouble - so it's worth to update anyway! ;-)

Microsoft ActiveSync 3.7.1 build 4034 is the latest synchronization software for Windows Mobile-based Pocket PCs and Smartphones. ActiveSync 3.7.1 contains fixes making synchronization more trouble free than ever before and includes all the significant improvements brought to you in ActiveSync 3.5, 3.6 and 3.7: it is easy to install and use while offering the best levels of reliability. If you had not already installed ActiveSync 3.5, ActiveSync 3.7.1 will also bring you up to date with compatibility to Microsoft Office XP and Windows XP.

It should be available for download in all major languages - haven't tested/installed all... ;-)

I've installed this earlier today. My feeling is that it makes the whole sync process faster.

The following bugs were fixed in 3.7.1 (4034):

• 21711 ActiveSync 3.7.1: Exploring connected device from desktop doesn't show contents in explorer window

o This provides better user experience when exploring the device from the desktop.

• 44120 ActiveSync 3.7.1: RAPI Crash

o This was a fix to eliminate the top reported bug since 3.7.1 shipped

• 44130 ActiveSync 3.7.1: 3rd party applications Initializing RAPI Failures

o RAPI changes in 3.7.1 had affected some 3rd party applications ability to initialize RAPI. This is now fixed.

• 51096 ActiveSync: Icon for Connection manager may be confusing to end users in the ICF popup dialog box

o If Internet Connection Firewall is on, this will pop up a warning dialog box when users dock their devices for the first time. Minor UI changes to make this pop-up more friendly and distinguishable.

How long does it take to install? I downloaded and have been waiting for nearly 20 mn. for the installation wizard to appear. Any feedback on the installation of AS 3.7.1?

@gemtech679: Installing shouldn't be that difficult. Try switching off your Anti-Virus app when installing...

Sometimes they just mess up installations.

I have installed the upgrade ActiveSync 3.7.1 build 3043 and now am unable to sync.  The connecting sync indicator comes on and tries to sync but I have left it going for several hours but it nevers sync's.  Not sure if I should just uninstall everything and reinstall 3.7.1 back without first installing my original CD with ActiveSync 3.7.
