As
previewed at CTIA in April, Microsoft today launched new features to Live Search
for Windows Mobile. Live Search for Windows Mobile is already pre-installed on
many Windows Mobile 6 and 6.1 smartphones (as long as it wasn't removed by
carriers) that enables Windows Mobile users to find key local information when
they're on the go. It provides local business search, maps, driving directions,
movie showtimes, and more, and even lets people speak their questions instead of
typing. The new version provides deeper integration with Windows Mobile phones,
user generated PC content and Web search and now offers weather forecasts too.
As a reminder, the updates first announced at CTIA include:
- Map a contact: For any people in your contacts list/address book,
immediately view their address on a map and get directions there
- View Virtual Earth collections: View custom maps of locations and events
that are created on the PC by you, your friends, or the broader community
- Web search: Launch web search directly from the client to find web
pages, product price comparisons and reviews, news, images, and more
- Weather: View the latest weather conditions and the 4 day forecast.
You can download the updates from your phone at wls.live.com.
