Following last week's Android 2.0.1 update for German, Italian and French Motorola Milestone users, Motorola Europe has now released the British Milestone update as well, which allows to update the device's firmware through a Windows PC (no OTA download required). Most notable changes of the Android 2.0.1/Eclair update are the changed unlock screen, the slightly updated Power Control widget and an updated Media Gallery. Under the hood improvements include an improved Android OS stability, improved battery life, a bug fix and enhanced camera auto focus functionality with reduced time between shots, improved audio quality for incoming calls and a couple of Bluetooth functionality improvements.
Furthermore, after closing a GPS application, the GPS icon will now automatically be removed from the notification panel as well as users can now receive SMS and MMS messages after an EMS message is received.
The Milestone update can now be downloaded free of charge from Motorola's support website.
