As announced earlier this week, today MSN has updated their MSN Screen Saver (Beta) and removed the MSN Toolbar requirement!
With the new MSN Screen Saver (Beta) you can personalize your screen saver with individual background photos and news and weather information from MSN or any RSS feeds from websites you choose. In addition the MSN Screen Saver allows you to search the Web and click news headlines directly from the screen saver.
Last but not least you can stay connected with MSN Hotmail, MSN Messenger, and MSN Spaces and track how many unread Hotmail messages and current Messenger conversations you have and display blogs and photos from your friends' MSN Spaces.

New in this Release

  • The Screen Saver no longer requires the MSN Search Toolbar (it's now an optional install)
  • Weather update & zip code issues resolved
  • Improved help pages

This screen saver version is still a (free) beta version and the MSN development team would love to hear your comments and suggestions to help to improve this product before the final version will be released later.

And yes, MSN is listening our feedback - for instance the requirement for the MSN Toolbar was removed because of the feedback of Beta testers. Thanks to this update, you don't need my previous tip on how to run MSN Screen Saver without MSN Toolbar anymore!

Cheers ~ Arne
