Yesterday, Nokia announced an update to its exclusive Nokia Transport, Nokia Maps and Nokia Drive apps for its Lumia Windows Phones which are now coming with new features. For Nokia Drive, speed limits and relevant notifications are now clearly visible in the app dashboard. Warnings are fully customizable with audio alerts and specific triggers. Additionally, Nokia introduced the most requested feature in this update: a complete offline experience which allows to download country maps for offline access. Nokia Maps now allows to add places to favorites and Nokia made it easier to share place details and how to get there via SMS, E-Mail or social networks.
Furthermore, Nokia Maps now shows traffic situation in USA, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, Belgium, Russia, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Finland, UK, France, Spain, Ireland, Netherlands, Sweden, India and UAE.
Announced at the Mobile World Congress, Nokia Transport is now available in more than 510 cities in 46 countries. The app provides an overview of how to get, within city limits, from A to B using public transportation. Walk directions are displayed to help users get to the next stop and from the last stop to a certain destination. In 86 cities, Nokia also include timetable information
Nokia Drive, Nokia Maps and Nokia Transport are now available exclusively to all Nokia Lumia users from the Windows Phone Marketplace. However, if you participated to the Beta of Nokia Transport the app won't get automatically updated to the version available on Marketplace. Therefore it's required to uninstall it before downloading the commercial version of Nokia Transport from Marketplace.
